So I work for this company that makes lots of plugins for web browsers and IM clients. It’s some cool stuff. Not necessarily my cup of tea, but I appreciate the work that goes into it, especially since I’m part of the team that makes it.
Our latest offering is an Avatar plugin that doubles as a chat app. I normally wouldn’t give something like this a second look, but since I’ve been working on it and testing it, I find it to be kind of a cool app. It’s called Zwinky. Here’s Mine:
I originally posted this in January, 2006 on another blog.
One other thing I dont like. There’s no user authentication. They email you a link that is to your administration area. In one way it might be nice to not have to worry about having yet ANOTHER user/pass to remember, but it doesnt seem that secure without a user/pass authentication.
One plus for this site, it works in Firefox. Some sites give you an activex control to upload photos that only works in IE. this site does that but if you’re not in IE, you can still use it.
I also like that it has a community as well. sharing photos is nice, but sites get more sticky traffic if they have a community.
here’s my album with 5 pics in it. I like the slider for resizing thumbnails. its all Javascript, no activex controls.
This quiz is quite funny. Many of the new “web 2.0″ web sites coming out are using some really weird names. Some just intentionally mis-spell known words or sound completely made up. Someone saw a strange similarity between the naming of these sites and characters from the Star Wars universe.
I scored a 40 out of 43. WooHoo!
Firefox 1.5 was released on Tuesday. I’ve only been using it a few hours, like some of the new features like being able to arrange your tabs. the options interface looks better. I havent really played around with it too much, been working on some things. But so far so good.

Funny how there was some IE news today too. BAD NEWS!! Micro$hit was informed of a security hole months ago. It was deemed not too severe but today it has been escalated to extremely critical and is still unpatched.
